Order from the House of Representatives, directing the Committee on State lands to inquire into the expediency of so altering or amending the law authorizing the sale of such public lands as are usually denominated timber lands, that the timber only be sold and the right of soil be reserved to the State, read and passed in concurrence.

Order from the House of Representatives, directing the Committee on Literature and Literary Intuitions, to inquire relative to the annual school fund, derived from the tasc [?] on banks, what course is expedient to pursue respecting the apportionment to such cities, towns and plantations as shall neglect to return the number of their scholars within the time prescribed by law - read and passed in concurrence.
