From some source unknown, I picked up the following scrap, written on the back of an old envelope (prob. fr Kilby's History of Eastport)

Dr. Joe Soccabesin always carried a cane with a basket hilt like a sword hilt (see elsewhere)  {"He had been to see the president; wore [two underlined] an extraordinary coat."  Dr. Joe Socarbesin the man who wanted a receipt fr. Johnson because he didnt want to hunt all round over Hell to find Squire Johnson.}

Franceway Peneas (see elsewhere) was also called Brassway Peneas or Placeway Penease.  Brasseur Lake is another corruption of the same François
