1105 A. Mr. Sweeny had a habit of getting a junk of coal and looking at it and then talk over it a spell, and then lay it down on the brick floor and strike it with a shovel , and sometimes by doing so would break the shovel. Mr. Sampson came out of the engine room one day and caught him just as he struck the lump of coal with a shovel and cracked the shovel at the same time, Mr. Sampson took him by the collar and swept him round the fire room a spell and then kicked him out, it might be skull-dragging him. Q. Did you ever see him do that or anything like it to Sweeny again? A. No sir, never saw it done but once Q. Did you ever find it cold in the hall when sitting up with the sick? A. Never Q. When you were sitting up in the sick room did you ever find it cold? A. No always comfortable Q. Did you ever see any other case of abuse? A. I can not call any to mind. Q. Have you seen cases where patients were treated with unnecessary severity? A. There have been cases of violent patients where they had to be handled a little rough in order to get them secured.
