An order came from the Senate instructing the Committee on Manufactures to inquire into the expediency of so altering the laws relative to the inspection of Pot & Pearl ashes as to add another number to the quality of Potash by designating the purest & best extra No one, and the House concurred.

Report of the Inspectors of the State Prison, transmitted by the Governor [see his message appendix page 16.] came from the Senate that body ordering 500 copies to be printed for the use of the Legislature and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate instructing the Committee on Banks & Banking to inquire into the expediency of limiting, the term of maturity if notes, bills of Exchange, or any other paper, which may be discounted by Banks - and the House concurred.

Petition of John B Cross & others to be incorporated for lumbering purposes was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Manufactures.

Petition of Jesse Wadleigh & others in relation to a proposed alteration in the Charter of the Bangor & Orono Rail Road Company. was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the committee on Rail Roads & Canals.

Petition of L.Y. Daly & others to be remunerated certain costs paid County Commissioners was read & referred to the Committee on Claims. Sent up for concurrence.
