80. directing the Treasurer of State to invest the school & Indian fund and any other surplus monies in the Treasury in Bank Stock in the banks of this State. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - An Act authorizing the erection of a dam across Parkers Bay in the town of Phipsburg, reported on the petition of Barnard C Bailey was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for 3d reading

Bill - An Act authorizing the erection of dams in the town of Georgetown in the County of Lincoln, reported on the petition of Joseph Berry & others was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

The Committee appointed for the purpose, reported that they had contracted with John M Clements to perform the duties of Copying Clerk at the rate of two dollars per day - and the report was accepted.

On motion by Mr Foster of Pembroke Ordered That a joint select Committee be raised consisting of one from each County on the part of the House to inquire into the expediency of adopting any and if any what measures are necessary to call the attention of Congress to the subject of fortifying our Rivers & frontiers - and Messrs Foster of Pembroke, Wardwell of Penobscot, Allen of Bangor, Chase of Camden, Boothby of Embden, Potter of Augusta, Soule of Freeport, Gerry of Waterford, Farley of Newcastle, Hogswell of Berwick were appointed on the part of the House. Sent up for concurrence.
