The Senate resumed the consideration of the motion last submitted by Mr Meqquier, in the forenoon session, and the same was negatived.
[Motion to amend the Preamble]
Mr Meqquier moved to amend the Preamble to the order by inserting after the word "required" the words "which proposed convention was never agreed to by the vote of the Senate", and the question on his amendment being ordered to be taken by yeas & nays was decided in the negative as follows:
Yeas. Messrs Davee, Dunlap, Hutchinson, Hutchings, Ingalls, Meqquier & Steele ---- 7
Nays. Messrs Drummond, Gardner, Healey, Hilton, Hinds, Kingsbery, Morse & Phelps --- 8

Mr Meqquier moved to amend the order by striking out the Preamble; decided in the negative.
The Question on passing the order, on motion by Mr Dunlap, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the affirmative, as follows:
