towns on the petition of the Selectmen of the town of Jefferson and petition of the Selectmen of Jefferson and Washington reported Bill established the line between Jefferson and the towns of Washington, Waldoborough, New Castle and Alna, and the same was read once and tomorrow 10 oclock assigned for a second reading,

[Resolve John Carpenter]

Resolve in favor of Joshua Carpenter was taken up and postponed indefinitely, sent down for concurrence. concurred

[Order of H R Militia]

Order of the House of Representatives, that the Committee on Militia and Military Affairs be directed to inquire into the expediency of exempting by law the noncommission officers and privates who actually preform Military duty, from paying a poll tax for the support of Government.

[Order of H. R. Constructing Canal]

" That the committee Turnpikes Bridges and Canals be directed to inquire into the expediency of authorizing the Governor and Council to employ at the expense of the State an able and inexperienced Engineer to survey and estimate the expense of constructing Canals in this State whenever satisfactory evidence shall be given to the Governor; that such Canal would be of public utility or benefit and for the interest of the State with leave to report by bill or otherwise were severally read and passed in concurrence,

Bill additional an Act entitled An Act to incorporate the Schoodiac Log Company was read a second time and referred to the next Legislature and ordered that the Schoodias River Log Company cause an attested copy of this Bill to be published
