185. Message from the Senate by Mr Smith their Secretary. Mr Speaker, The Senate propose a convention of both branches at the Representatives Chamber at 4 oclock this afternoon for the purpose of filling the vacancy at the Senate Board occasioned by the resignation of Jonas Parlin Junior Esquire - and the House concurred &.
Report on deed from Timothy Boutelle & wife to the State, granting a Resolve, was referred to the next Legislature.
Bill in addition to the several acts now in force to organize, govern and discipline the Militia of this State, came from the Senate, that body insisting on their amendments - House also insisted a appointed Messrs McCobb of Phipsburg, Adams of Portland & Vance of No 6, as Conferees.
Bill authorizing the town of Bangor to purchase the Bridge over the Kenduskeag River in said town, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Resolve in favor of Samuel Cony & for establishing the salary of the Adjutant General, (reported by the Committee on that subject) was read [underlined]once & passage to a 2d reading refused.
Resolve making an appropriation for the State Printing, (laid on the table on motion) was read twice & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill in addition to an act to prevent and punish Trespasses - was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed as amended at A. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill in addition to an act to establish the Cumberland & Oxford Canal, was read a 3d time and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
