61 A message was received from the Senate informing this House that they have reconsidered their vote assigning today for the choice on their part of a Major Genl for the 8th Division and have assigned Thursday 27th inst. at 11 oclock for that purpose.
Bill to incorporate the town of Charlotte, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Bill too incorporate the town off Baring, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Bill to incorporate the town of Alexander, was read a 3d time and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Petition of William Stemmons Junr & al referred in this House to the committee of New Trials, came back from the Senate [underlined]non concurred and referred to Messrs Prime & Parsons of L. with such as the House may join - The House concurred and Messrs Smith of Westbrrook, Kimball of Rumford & Jones of Fairfield were joined.
Bill to annex Lewiston to Cumberland County, taken from the last years files, referred in Senate to the committee on the incorporation of towns came down for concurrence - and the House concurred.
Mr Eveleth of Windham had leave of absence for six days after today.
Ordered, that the committee on Banks & Banking be instructed to consider the expediency of providing by law, that from and after date no Bills shall be issued from any Bank within this State, but from Perkins Steel Stereotype Check plate, - read & passed.
