The committee on engrossed bills reported as duly engrossed Resolve, relating to the allowance of the Massachusetts claims now pending before the Congress of the United States. which was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Ebenezer Alden for authority to sell certain lime casks he has on hand not of the dimensions required by law was read & referred to Messrs Robbins of Union, Richardson of Portland & Hall of Camden.

A letter was received by the Speaker and read from the chair, from Elias Thomas Esquire, Treasurer of State, communicating a Report of the State of the Treasury for the year 1824 - and on motion of the papers were referred to the committee on finance.

Petition of Abijah Brown & als of Clinton - - of Daniel Herrin & als of Milford, on the subject of Lawyers fees & were read & referred to Messrs Parsons of Cornville, Hammond of Elliot & Frost of Topsham.

A message [crossed out]was [crossed out]received from the Governor dated January 10th 1825 (see appendix page 223) on the subject of the formation oof a new Division, denominated the 8th Division, came from the Senate for the information of the House - and in the House it was read & sent up.

Ordered that Monday the 17th inst. at 11 o'clock A. M. be assigned for making choice on the part fo the House of a Major General of the 8th Division oof the Militia of this State.
