[Petition - Barret Potter]
Petition of Barret Potter, Judge of Probate for the County of Cumberland praying for an increase of salary - was read & referred to Messrs Russell, Cobb & Slemmons.
Mr Ingalls of Bridgton was appointed on the Committee on finance instead of Mr Brown of Waldoboro who has obtained leave of absence.
[Report - Convicts]
The committee on the subject of revising the law relating to the punishment of convicts reported a reference of the subject to a select committee of both Houses - The Senate accepted the report & appointed for the Select committee on their part Messrs Dunlap & Dennet - The House concurred & Messrs Williams Abbot & Weeks were joined.
Reports on petition of Eliashib Adams & als for a Bank at Bangor - on petition of Rufus Chase & als of Bridgton - on petition of Trustees of Brunswick Academy - on petition of Selectmen of Trenton - on petition of Artemas Leonard & others - on petition of Trustees of China Academy - granting leave to withdraw - came from the Senate accepted for concurrence & the House concurred.
Reports on the petition of Josiah Trott & als - on petition of Inhabitants of Surry - on petition of Joseph D Jewett & als - on petition of Samuel Chase & als - granting an order of notice - came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.
Mr Houdlette of Dresden has leave of absence after Saturday next.
