14 [Inh. of Wayne] Petition of Inhabitants of Wayne praying for the repeal of the Law exempting ministers from taxation. Read and committed to the same committee.
[Comm to alter law requiring Justices of the Peace to pay 5$] On motion of Col Atherton of Prospect, Ordered, that a committee of three members be raised to enquire into the expediency of altering or amending so much of an act passed in June last as requires that "Justices of the Peace shall on or before the first day of February next pay Five dollars or thereafterwards be disqualified to act under their present commissions" with leave to report by bill or otherwise and Messrs Atherton of Prospect, Wellington of Fairfax & Hobbs of Waterborough are appointed said Committee.
[Banks & Banking] Mr. Lord of Gardiner is substituted for Mr. Greenleaf of Portland on the Committee "on Banks & Banking."
[elections] Mr. Adams of Portland is substituted on the committee "on Elections", for Mr. Johnson of Belfast not now a member of the House.
[ditto] Mr. McIntire of York is substituted on the committee "on Elections", for McIntire of Parsonsfield who has resigned his seat as a member of this House.
[Finance] Mr. Mowrey of Lubec is substituted on the committee "on Finance", for Mr. Balch of Lubec who resigned his seat as a member of this House.
