[called to order] The House being called to order by Mr. Addams of Portland the Hon. Lothrop Lewis, the member returned from Gorham, was unanimously requested to act as Chairman until its constitutional organization.
[Quorum present] A committee was then appointed, consisting of Messrs Adams of Portland, Ames of Bath, Dunlap of Brunswick, Moody of Kennebunk and Dunn of Poland to ascertain if a quorum of the House be present, who immediately reported than more than one half of the number returned as elected were in their seats.
[Committee to inform acting Governor that a quorum is assembled ready to be qualified.] Messrs Williams of Augusta, Tucker of Bristol, Russell of North yarmouth, Hobbs of Berwick and Burr of Litchfield were requested to inform the Hon. Daniel Rose Presdident of the Senate and Acting Governon of the State that a quorum of this House is assembled and are ready to be qualified.
