The procedure is to find out where your man lived, & if the place supports a place meaning. There is a "Paucanep Water" somewhere, I think in verse, but my books have gone Boston way. King Philip wrote Pawkamauket, or -mawket, in a deed concerning his own seat [?] place at Pokanocket. But, as a warning, don't take m [letter m underlined] too hard where you are used to finding n [letter n underlined], for down here, between Whites & Indians, you get n [letter n underlined] smoothed into m [letter m underlined] quite occasionally: I won't say it isn't tolerable Indian.

You see, I wasn't saving personals to translate them, but to clear indeterminate forms in place names. Yet I am thankful for the translated ones you write - there is some chance of parallels in my index. Here & there in my personals Nelson has been able to translate, or try to. I think I will send you his lot later. Names of greater chiefs anywhere are rather apt
