Saturday, January 21st, 1837.

A communication was received from Samuel Small, Councilor elect, signifying, his acceptance, and readiness to take and subscribe the oaths required by the Constitution - read and sent down.

On motion of Mr Swift, Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives, proposing a Convention of the two Houses, in the Representatives Hall, this day at eleven o'clock, for the purpose of qualifying Samuel Small, Council or elect, who has signified his acceptance and readiness to take and subscribe the oaths of office - Which message was delivered by the Secretary.

A message was received from the House of Representatives concurring in the foregoing proposition.

In Convention.

The two Houses agreeably to assignment, meeting convention, for the purpose of qualifying Samuel Small, Council elect. Mr Nevers of Sweden, of the House, was charged with a message, informing Samuel Small that the two Houses of the Legislature have met in convention, and are ready to administer to him the necessary oaths. Where upon, Samuel Small came in, and before the President of the Convention, and in presence of both Houses of the Legislature took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution
