Friday April 1st 1836

Met according to adjournment.

The House accepted the Report of Conferees on the part of the House on the Bill "An Act respecting the Maine Stage Company" recommending that the House adhere to their vote passing the Bill to be engrossed.

Resolve - An additional Resolve for the payment of accounts against the State - was read a second time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - An Act to abolish imprisonment for Debt came from the Senate referred to the next Legislature - The House indefinitely postponed the same.

Resolve authorizing the appointment of a Superintendent of Public Buildings was read twice & passed to be engrossed in concurrence.

Resolve relating to the Barring & Houlton Road, was refused a passage, agreeably to the report of the Committee to whom the subject was referred yesterday.

Bill - An Act additional concerning Meeting Houses - was read a third time and Mr Lippincot of Columbia moved its indefinite to postponement and the question was decided in the negative as follows ywas 36 nays 94 [ see appendix page 250] and then the Bill was passed to be engrossed as amended.
