Petition of Mark Trafton, agent in behalf of Penobscot tribe of Indians for an Indian Manual Labor School on Orson Island was read and referred to the Committee on Literature &c - Sent up for concurrence

On motion of Mr Eastman of Strong Ordered That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire if any alteration or amendment of the law be necessary in relation to Inholders, Retailers and Common Victuallers. Sent up for concurrence
On by Mr Holmes of Alfred - Ordered That the joint select Committee on rules & orders be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so altering the Rules as to provide for a joint standing Committee on Indian Affairs. Sent up for concurrence.
