Reports on the Order of 18th ult, relative to corporations - on the Order of 21. ult relative to County Commissioners - on the Order of 1st inst relative relative to Public Commissioners - on the Order of 19th ult relative to a valuation for Schoolhouses that legislation is inexpedient, were severally read & accepted in concurrence with the Senate.
Memorial of the Proprietors of the Thomaston Bridges against the petition of John Creighton & others was read & referred in concurrence, to the Committee on Roads & Bridges.
Opinion of the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court on the question " If the Legislature shall abolish the punishment of death, will the crime of murder become by the Constitution bailable offense" that the same would become bailable, was read & referred in concurrence to the Committee on Capital Punishments.
Bill - An Act to fix the compensation of superintending School Committees was read once & ordered to lie on the table.
Resolve authorizing the Treasurer to receive the fourth instalment due from Nehemiah Leavitt, was read twice & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
