85. Petitions of the Brunswick Company for an alteration of their Charter - " Samuel Weston & others to be incorporated by the name of the Fairfield Land & Mill Company were severally read and referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Manufactures.

The Adjutant Generals Annual Report, and accompanying papers, was referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on the Militia.

An order came from the Senate instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of altering amending, modifying or repealing "An Act for the relief of Poor Debtors approved March 24 1835 - and the House concurred.

Petition of Anson G. Chandler & others of Calais to be incorporated for removing obstructions & constructing Canals on St. Croix rivers. was referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Canals & Rail Roads -

Petition of Henry H Boody & others for the abolition of Capital Punishment was read & referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee who have the subject under consideration

Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in convention in the Representatives Hall when Timothy Pillsbury & John Burnham, Councillors elect came in & in presence of the two Houses and before the President of the Senate, took & subscribed the oaths required by the constitution to qualify them to enter upon their official duties - The Convention then proceeded by ballot to the choice of a Treasurer of State - The whole
