Cat-pat. [underlined]  There was a Restigouche Indian of the name of Quatre Pied, (or so at least he was always called by the Canadian French) but our lumbermen transformed it into Catpat.  {But"Forelegs" was name of one of Col. Joe [?] Allen's Indians & John Blake's Roster for 1815 shows "Sebattis Legs".}

Brassoway Joe Tomah [all underlined], or Francis Joe Tomah, also called Black Brassoway, tall, thin, wore coat only without shirt, He had the ugliest wife in the tribe. Brassoway Jo's wife was called uglier than seven devils. father of one eyed Tom Francis, Horace Francis, and Mary Francis the slender footed girl who married a Joe Francis of the Quoddy tribe
