nomination & I hope you will not decline - Mr Varnum was brought forward 4 years ago by yourself & others including myself this leads me to hope you will not object to him; there is not so good a prospect of success as I would wish, but if you acquiesce so as to be a candidate your Friends will become more attached & we shall make a handsome stand at least & let our opponents know that they cannot hold the reins
