Your feeling about Connecticut names reminds that Nelson found he could talk with a Delaware lately [?]; and the Mohegan shades into the Hudson River sort as you go west & the H. R. into the Delaware, the same with western Long Island. After doing with S. E. New England names I get the home feeling you speak of from Virginia names.
I've been saving personal names lately, have 3700 indexed. It was because a good many Indians were known by the names of their places. They all had private names I assume, also, but it would not be the Indian way to be forward about them. Once indexed these names turn out much more interesting & profitable than I expected. Rather the first [? best?] forms of the language are in them & help clear up place-names. It might be worth while
