amount of heat can be regulated by
the amount of steam that passes into
this coil.
How I wish to be understood so
say that there has been no change
excepting the renewal of old parts that
wear out, in the condition of those
lodges, since I have known them, which
began early in 1874. There has been
one change and that is to this effect;
Up to some time about the beginning
of this cold weather this winter the
lodges had been heated in this way
I have described, and the fires under
the boilers had been run to a late
hour in such nights as seemed to require
it, being under the control of the superintendent.
