Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of modifying the criminal Jurisdiction of the Courts and otherwise revising and altering the criminal Law - Sent up for con.
On motion by the same
Ordered That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of increasing the number of the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court and Court of Common Pleas.
Sent up for concurrence.
On motion by Mr Wells of Hallowell
Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of fixing by law the period for the execution of criminals, condemned to death, not exceeding one year from the time of passing sentence upon them.
